Focus and Features

This two-day course is designed for experienced ACL users. In an interactive, hands-on environment you will learn how to integrate ACL commands and expressions to accomplish complex data analysis tasks. You will also practice planning and executing a data analysis project by working through a series of case studies. Through this case-study approach you will learn how to effectively use ACL in real0life situations and discover what it means to think with ACL.

What You Will Learn

This course is divided into four modules, each consisting of a case study. The modules, which become progressively more challenging, take you through the following data analysis phases:

•    Objective Setting: Identifying the project objectives in business and technical terms

•    Planning:  Determining the steps necessary to achieve objectives

•    Access: Gaining physical and logical access by identifying location and format of required data

•    Data Integrity: Ensuring that the data does not contain corrupt elements and that the table layout is correctly constructed. Testing for control totals, bounds completeness, uniqueness, data relationships, and reliability.

•    Analysis: Analyzing the data to reveal exceptions

•    Reporting: Preparing the results for formal presentation

Prerequisites

Completion of an ACL 100-level course is strongly recommended or at least six months previous experience using ACL for data analysis.
